RLV College of Music and Fine Arts is situated in Tripunithura , Tripunithura is in Ernakulam District .

RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura, Kerala, presently known as “Shanthinikethan of South India” had a humble beginning in a single apartment belonging to the Cochin Royal family. With a vision of upliftment of woman community, the then-King of Cochin, H.H. Sri. Kerala Varma Mitukkan Thampuarn and his wife Smt. Lakshmikutty Nethyaramma invited experts in Stiching, Kaikottikkali, Painting, etc. to impart learning to girls and elder ladies so that they may utilize their leisure time fruitfully. This endeavor developed into an institution in the name of the King’s daughter Radha and wife Lakshmi and was named as ‘Radha Lakshmi Vilasam Academy’ incorporating Vocal music also.

In 1956, this institution became under the government of Kerala and was renamed as RLV Academy of Music and Fine Arts. By that time the Diploma and Post Diploma Courses in Vocal Music, Bharathanatyam, Kathakali, Painting, etc. were started. Later on, in 1998, this institution was affiliated to Mahathma Gandhi University, resulting in the restructuring of the Diploma and Post Diploma Courses into Degree and Post Graduate courses.

Administration

The college is managed by the government. It has various committees and councils like admission committee, discipline committee, examinations committee etc., to look after the normal functioning of the college. The main source of the funding is from the government. There is a College Development Committee(CDC) and Parent Teacher Association(PTA). The PTA helps in maintaining good discipline and academic standards in the college. They encourages institution of scholarships, prizes, medals etc. The association meets the expenditure towards appointment of temporary staff, repairs to equipments, and other very unusual and unforeseen requirements.

The main administration of the college is done by the Principal with the assistance of various committees. Office administration is done by a Senior Superintendent who is helped by other office staff.
